Bea Riddiford

I am an experienced and dedicated teacher of English Language and Literature at secondary school level, from year 7 all the way up to A level, with experience of a variety of exam board specifications. I passionately believe in the enrichment possibilities of reading at all levels, and in the potential benefits of one-to-one tuition to bolster and support students in their study of English and as they prepare to sit their public examinations.

For key stage 3, I offer an enrichment programme of reading and writing to support and enhance what is being learnt at school. This can be tailored to the needs of the individual student, but might include enhanced study of a set text, a “deep dive” into classic texts such as George Orwell’s “1984” or Graham Greene’s “The Third Man” to encourage and stretch avid and mature readers, and creative writing tuition. I have run creative writing clubs at key stage 3 in a variety of educational settings.

At GCSE, I offer exam skills and set-text focused tuition to support students as they prepare for these public examinations.

At A level, I offer help with planning and executing coursework as appropriate, along with set text and exam skills focused tuition.

At key stages 4 and 5, I can offer intensive sessions in the run up to the actual examinations, as well as weekly sessions to support students throughout the entire course, as appropriate and required.

I also have extensive experience as a sixth form tutor and so can advise on UCAS applications and offer preparatory sessions for university tests and interviews.
